Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nantes
Nantes university hospital is a public health institution and a centre of reference and excellence in several domains on an inter-regional and national scale: cardiology, transplants, oncology, cellular and gene therapy, neuroscience, serious burns unit, etc. The University hospital gathers a Neurosurgery-Neurotrauma department where approximately 2 000 patients are followed annually. In the Clinical research department more than 1 000 clinical trials have been managed to date.
The hospital treats approximately 50% of degenerative spinal pathologies compared to the activity of the Neurosurgery-Neurotrauma department. The Neurosurgery-Neurotrauma department is working in close cooperation with the laboratory for osteoarticular and dental tissue engineering (LIOAD; JRU U791-Universite de Nantes/INSERM lioad.nantes.inserm.fr) which performs high-level research in the field of bone, cartilage and dental tissue engineering. Field of expertise: Bone marrow-, adipose- and synovial-derived Stem Cells, advanced biomaterials (calcium phosphate, hydrogels), Bone physiopathology, IVD disorders, articular cartilage lesions, periodontal diseases, drug delivery system, skeleton development, induced pluripotent stem cells.
Pr. Jérôme GUICHEUX, MD PhD
Is the deputy director of LIOAD and of the François Bonamy Health Federative Research Institute. His research interests include skletetal biology and engineering with a special focus on the development of stem cells and biomaterials based therapies for the repair of osteoarticular tissues including bone, cartilage and IVD. J. Guicheux received the Victor and Erminia Mescle award by the French Medical Research Foundation for his work on cartilage regenerative medicine
Dr Eric Bord, MD
Is neurosurgeon since 1993. he is head of Neurosurgery-Neurotrauma department. He is involved in clinical trials as Principal co-Investigator. He is Vice chief Medical office and he is Board member of the medical faculty. He is an Associate researcher in Inserm unit U791 (Pr Weiss). His research interests include degenerative spinal pathologies, neurotrauma research and nervous system tumor.
Dr Johann CLOUET, PhD
Is currently a post-doctorate at the INSERM U791 Lab under the guidance of Prof J. Guicheux. His research interests include skletetal biology and engineering with a special focus on the development of stem cells and biomaterials based therapies for the repair of IVD.
