Hygiene

Hygiene in the hospital is part of care: caregivers and patients contribute to the quality and safety of care through hygiene. It must be reinforced before any surgical intervention.

Make sure you bring the towels and night clothes essential to your stay as well as a toiletries kit (toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, razor...)

Personal hygiene must be reinforced before any surgical intervention. A shower with a liquid soap such as mild or antiseptic soap significantly reduces the number of germs on the skin and reduces the risk of nosocomial infection.

How to proceed ?

  • First of all, remove jewelry, piercing, make-up, nail polish...
  • Wash from top to bottom,
  • Insist on the hair, armpits, umbilicus (navel), pubis, folds, feet and toes, as well as on the area concerned by your intervention,
  • Rinse thoroughly,
  • Dry well,
  • Use clean towels,
  • Wear clean clothes after showering.

Do not hesitate to seek help if necessary.

When should you shower ?

In the evening and morning before the operation, do not forget to brush your teeth well before the operation, in some cases, an additional oral antisepsis may be prescribed.

Hand hygiene, an essential measure

Hygiene in hospitals is part of care: caregivers and patients contribute to the quality and safety of care through hygiene. We all carry bacteria on our skin and in our digestive tract. Hand hygiene is essential to prevent the transmission of these bacteria, which can cause hospital-acquired infections. Good hand hygiene is achieved by washing hands thoroughly with soap or by rubbing with a hydro-alcoholic product.

Some recommendations :

1 - Wash your hands with soap several times a day and especially:

  • after going to the toilet or the pool,
  • before eating,
  • before and after touching your dressing or drain,
  • before you leave your room.

Friction with a hydro-alcoholic product replaces hand washing (except in cases where hands are visually soiled), it is fast and effective.

2 - Take a shower every day

3 - Ensure good oral hygiene
